home-base health

In an earlier post, I talked about the idea of a home base (or basecamp) for your health - a stable foundation of fairly regular, high-leverage behaviours. From there we can take a deeper dive (or "go adventuring") in various directions if desired or required.

Usually, a basecamp will be a solid foundation in SLEEP • MOVEMENT • NUTRITION • STRESS MANAGEMENT

Here is a general idea of what I consider to be my health basecamp:

Daily(ish):
⛰ Morning CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations) routine from @functional_range_conditioning. You can check out some videos of it on Ytube
⛰ Varied movement throughout the day (I am lucky that my job is quite active & varied) with walks, cycling to/from work and a few gentle movements before bed
⛰ Meditation with the @wakingupapp
⛰ Adequate nutrition & hydration based on my needs/preferences. On the website of @precisionnutrition there is a free nutrition calculator for guidance and meal ideas
⛰ 7-9 hours of sleep with a fairly regular schedule (similar weekday and weekend schedule) & viewing sunlight within the first hour of waking to help set my circadian rythm

Additional weekly(ish) things:
⛰ A few sessions of physical activity mainly aimed at providing an aerobic foundation, having fun and being outdoors (running/cycling/rowing)
⛰ 1-2 strength sessions with kettlebells, pilates or @functional_range_conditioning (I have a subscription with @coach_alexmurphy)
⛰ Time for solitude, creative/"Artist's date" session, listening to podcasts etc, at least one full day without social media
⛰ Quality time with my partner, friends and family

What activities would you consider to be your basecamp or home-base?
