According to sleep expert Matthew Walker, the simple act of regularity can have a huge impact on the quantity and quality of your sleep. This means having a fairly consistent sleep & wake-up time every day (during the week and weekend).

But simple doesn't necessarily mean easy, and there are many reasons why this might be hard.

Maybe you have a partner with a different sleep schedule, maybe you want to go out one night and not the other, or maybe you just find yourself revenge bedtime procrastinating*

When you can look at your behaviour with genuine curiosity then you can start to make shifts in a positive direction. And no, it doesn't need to be perfect, rigid or boring.

*yes, that's a thing. If people have little autonomy over their time during the day, they will often stay up late in an attempt to "reclaim" their time at night
