Your health base-camp

We can often feel very overwhelmed when it comes to our health and all the different things we should be doing.

One framework that I like to use is that of a base-camp or home-base.

There, you have everything you need. It is simple, stable and accessible.

With regards to our health, our base-camp consists of the high-leverage behaviours and habits that are the most important and relevant to us, particularly in the areas of sleep, nutrition, movement and stress management.

From there and with this as our stable foundation, we can take an adventure.

Sometimes this ‘adventure’ is not of our choosing, such as when we have a particular disorder that requires us to be far more strict or dive deeper into a certain direction. Other times, these can be areas of particular interest to us, or something that we find fun, valuable or meaningful such as optimising for longevity or beating a personal record in an ultramarathon.

For most people, most of the time, basecamp is enough.

You don’t need to be overwhelmed or stressed out by your health, or quit your day job to do it full-time.

It can be simple, accessible and human.
